Because we are committed to providing our customers with top quality products, part of my job is to make sure that the photos we are sent reproduce well. That means sometimes I have to work some magic. For instance, one time a customer sent a picture she had taken of her family on vacation. She had it all composed and at the last second someone (a stranger) walked into the picture. Fortunately we were able to blur his figure a little bit and add a frame to the picture (frames can be a great accessory, but sometimes are a necessity). Our customer ended up with only her family standing in front of the Grand Canyon on her mouse pad.

When I am asked what makes a good picture for photo gifts I recommend these two quick tips:

• Don't zoom in too much. It is better to leave space around your subject; that way we have room to crop when necessary. We can always zoom in to fill the space, but we can't add space if you didn't leave any. Also by leaving space around people, it is easier for us to omit someone from your photograph if needed.

• Photos taken outside work best. The lighting is better and the colors are richer.
